This past year I have been working hard to get upgraded in the EUSPBA (governing association over solo and band bagpipe competitions in the Eastern US) to the next solo level. I found out yesterday that I made it! I'm now in Grade 1, which is the top amateur bagpiping level. There is only one more above Grade 1, which is the Professional or "Open" level.
Grade 1 will be more than enough for now. Grade 1 competitors often get asked to play in invitation-only competitions, among some other nerve-wracking things.
