Itch, Itch

Some time over Memorial Day weekend I realized my itchy eye was the beginning of a poison ivy outbreak. By Sunday morning half my face was swollen, fluids were draining into my eye, my cheeks were rashy, and I didn't really feel like going to church. By Monday (when we began our garage sale), I looked like I had either been punched in the eye, or been in a car accident. I got very odd looks from our buyers.

On Tuesday I decided I should go to the Dr. But he was completely full for the day and sent me to urgent care (cha-ching!). Yeah, the Dr said, poison ivy in the eye really isn't a good thing. "You need a shot!" "And pills for 10 days." "More cha-ching", I thought.

The drugs helped with the swelling, but next I looked like I had been burned. Then the skin started coming off, and I looked like I had leprosy. Then my neck started breaking out. And those spots grew. And tonight the other side of my neck started breaking out. And this all comes from being the only one in this house who will weed the back hill.

When will it ever end, when will it eeeever end? (That was a 60's song).

Look for and invest in Tech-Nu (remember it from Bud's hike to the waterfall?). Even if you've started to break out, it helps lessen the rash. I've found it at CVS, but only sometimes. Karen

Tecnu! Ha! Well, maybe it did help some, but then I would hate to see what I would have looked like if I hadn't used it. What I'm saying is, I have two bottles of it and I DO use it. I just seem to have a mega-over-reaction to poison ivy. It may succeed in killing me yet.
